Character (Low price, my favourite and the cheapest grade...!) - Knots and good grain patterns along with some different colour tones in the boards, resin is used to fill any knots or cracks. Character oak tables can be more prone to movement. So over time, you might get small hair line splits or cracks in the timber, these are normal for character oak tables.

Prime (medium price) - A very clean looking grade with maybe a few small knots a straight grain and more consistent colour tones between boards. This is a sort after grade and used in most oak joinery as there is less chance of any movement over the life of the table (it will out last you!).

Pippy (high price) - Lots of knots, swirling grain patterns and big colour variations. Resin is used to fill the knots and Pippy markings on these tables they look stunning but take a long time to build. Like Character oak Pippy oak tables can be more prone to movement. So over time, you might get small splits or cracks in the timber, this by no means makes the table unusable it just adds to the character.

All tables are hand-made to order from solid oak in the Kent countryside, they are then oiled to colour the timbers. After colouring the timbers are finished with a second coat of clear protective oil.
